Né en 1995 à Marseille, Franck Scala est un sculpteur et designer basé à Lyon dont la pratique oscille entre entre art et design de collection avec la création de sculptures et de mobilier d’art. L’observation de phénomènes naturels (érosion, sédimentation, concrétionnement), de l’impact des éléments sur la matière, d’une certaine beauté dans l’aléatoire, est chez lui une obsession. Cela s’exprime par des créations singulières et intemporelles, de formes organiques ou géométriques, texturées de reliefs et d’aspérités. Chacune de ces oeuvres, entre maîtrise technique et équilibre esthétique, propose une vision poétique et sensorielle du monde minéral et organique.
Depuis la création de son studio en 2022, son travail a d'abord été présenté dans des galeries régionales, avant d'attirer l'attention de la presse, des médias (Tribune de Lyon, Figaro Magazine, Marie Claire Maison, France 3 Régions) ainsi que d'acteurs prestigieux du monde de l’art, de l’architecture et du design. L’exigence de sa production artistique lui a notamment valu d’être repéré par l’agence artistique parisienne Noûs Art, ainsi que de prendre part à la décoration de biens d’exceptions pour le compte d’architectes & décorateurs de renoms tel que Damien Langlois Meurinne (AD 100). Certaines de ses pièces ou collections ont également été sélectionnées et proposées par la plateforme d’art et de design The Oblist (sur curation de Manuela Wyszynski).
Aujourd’hui le sculpteur designer poursuit sa démarche, travaille sur des projets sur-mesure en France et à l’international (notamment aux État-Unis) et prépare une collection de mobilier d’art en édition limitée.
Born in 1995 in Marseille, Franck Scala is a french sculptor and designer based in Lyon, whose practice oscillates between art and collectible design through the creation of sculptures and art furniture. His work is driven by the observation of, and fascination with, natural phenomena (erosion, sedimentation, and concretion...), the impact of the elements on matter, and a certain beauty found in randomness. This obsession manifests in singular and timeless creations, featuring organic or geometric forms, textured with reliefs and irregularities. Each piece, balancing technical mastery and aesthetic harmony, offers a poetic and sensory vision of the mineral and organic worlds.
Since the creation of his studio in 2022, his work was first showcased in regional galleries before attracting the attention of the press and media (Tribune de Lyon, Figaro Magazine, Marie Claire Maison, France 3 Régions), as well as prominent figures in the worlds of art, architecture, and design. The rigor and refinement of his artistic practice also caught the eye of the Paris-based agency Noûs Art, and led to his involvement in the decoration of exceptional properties for renowned architects and interior designers such as Damien Langlois Meurinne (AD 100). Some of his pieces and collections have also been selected and featured by the international art and design platform The Oblist, curated by Manuela Wyszynski.
Today, the sculptor-designer continues to develop his artistic approach, as well as working on bespoke projects in France and abroad — particularly in the United States — while preparing a limited-edition collection of art furniture.
